This is the first trade-occupation category-based draw since July 4, 2024, when 1,800 candidates were invited with a minimum CRS score of 436. It is also the first non-French proficiency category-based draw since July 5, 2024.
Multiple Express Entry Draws in a Single Week
The latest draw marks the third Express Entry draw in a single week:
-
October 22: 400 Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates invited with a CRS score of at least 539.
-
October 21: 648 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates invited with a minimum CRS score of 791.
IRCC has been holding multiple draws every second week, emphasizing its commitment to selecting candidates who are already living and working in Canada as temporary residents. This aligns with the Immigration Levels Plan, which seeks to balance the reduction of temporary residents while meeting the annual target for new permanent residents.
What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is Canada’s online immigration application management system for three key economic immigration programs:
-
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
-
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
-
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
These programs use the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to assess candidates based on age, education, work experience, language ability, and other human capital factors. Those with the highest scores receive invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residence.
How CRS Scores Impact Express Entry Draws
The CRS score plays a crucial role in determining who receives an ITA. Candidates with higher scores are more likely to be selected.
-
PNP candidates automatically receive an additional 600 points, significantly boosting their CRS scores.
-
Candidates with family in Canada or those applying with a spouse or partner may receive additional points.
